down in florida in the summer months,
it sure helps to get the air moving in the shop if you want to remain semi-comfortable
I have quite a few ceiling fans (21) 60" and two, roof exhaust fans,
that suck heated air out of the shop attic,
but I've found that adding a floor fan that's aimed along the floor surface,
at the area under the car, helps you feel cooler very noticeably.
on any car I might be working on, as it adds noticeably to the comfort level, this helps reduce the felt temps.
I purchased one of the 30-inch fans at a clearance sale at home depot, for $199,
and its proven to be useful,
if I get a couple extra bucks I might just purchase a second one.
and if you have a similar rather hot non-airconditioned shop,
you might consider purchasing one or more they do make a difference.
now one of the guys I know has a couple of the 42" industrial floor fans,
in his shop he has them stacked vertically in a rack, thats about 4ft wide 7 ft tall in his angle iron rack, he fabricated,
that custom racks on wheels, and he uses a couple of bungee cords to fasten it in place ,
in front of the shops access door, when its in use.
otherwise the fan thrust would tip the fan holding fixture frame he built over ,
once the fans were turned on,
that rack he built, he places in front of the access door to his shop
, and leaves the big garage door only open about 12" at the bottom,
as he only has a 2 car garage, and the ceilings too low for ceiling fans,
that solution has its limits, but it moves a great deal of airflow!
those buggers are LOUD, you can hardly hear the conversation,
but to be fair they sure keep a noticeable breeze in his two-car garage.
enough that you can,t keep a manual or instruction sheets open without magnets and paper weights,
if any of you gentlemen use similar fans why not add to this thread
