Id sure visit a couple auto paint stores and auto body shops and ask a lot of questions:D
I've only painted 5 cars so far , so I'm not a great reference authority in that field
I've only painted a few cars and the results while decent were not up to show car results:rolleyes:
I've always suggested you ask lots of questions before you start any project and it certainly helps to have one or more experienced MENTORS

like most things you tend to get what you pay for in quality and durability,
but with all equipment, proper cleaning and maintenance is mandatory for proper operation,
and of course, that requires a decent compressor and air drying system,
to paint auto finishes and selecting and mixing paint and solvents correctly,
and no matter how good the paint is the proper surface finish,
and primer, before you paint remains key to getting a decent finished surface.

simple mistakes
like not using a paint filter before loading your paint gun, or having a compressor thats not supplying a consistent pressure and DRY air can cause you problems

I’m no longer a fan Eastwood, but for honesty’s sake I have this gun and it works well combined with a small air compressor (when not painting a large object). Painting a car, you’ll want a larger tank. Control is great with a more defined edge on the spray path. I only used single stage paints with this gun, when the humidity lets up I’m set up to spray a clear coat with this gun.

The spray gun will depend a bit if i'm doing base coats or clear coats for base coats.

For base coats I like the Iwata lph 400 or the sata 5000b.

The new devilbiss basecoat guns are also pretty good.

I just bought a Devilbiss GPG. I will be spraying epoxy primer with 1.8 tip in about two weeks. I seemed to have alot of good reviews.
