Ive owned and used a BROWNING BLR in caliber 358 win for many years,
while its not my go-too rifle its proven to be damn effective!
its proven to be one very versatile and useful carbine.
I was persuaded to buy one ,once my hunting partner used his browning BLR for decades and has used one to kill over a dozen elk in the last 30 plus years.
I've killed deer ELK and hogs several times with that carbine,
generally loaded with the same ammo I've loaded for him for decades, a 250 speer bullet over 45 grains oh IMR 4064 powder and a federal 215 primer,
I sight in at 3.3" high at 100 yards and that places it almost dead on at 200 yards and 11" low at 300 yards, that's certainly flat enough for most hunting, despite what the magazines would have you believe most ELK DEER and hogs get killed at WELL UNDER 200 yards
and a 250 speer bullet will very effectively put an ELK down in short order even at 300 yards with anything close to a decent hit, if you know ELK anatomy
Just to annoy him a bit, I recently purchased another BLR in caliber 450 marlin also....

and just to make him a bit crazy I generally grab my SAKO 375 H&H carbine if we hunt the thick timber..

don,t let the magazines give you the wrong idea,
in 40 plus years of hunting elk ,
Ive seen only a few ELK killed at over 300 yards,
and most at UNDER 140 yards
