now this is a great fighting knife,DESIGN ,but the actual fabrication and materials used by cold steel has some areas in its fabrication that need to be improved, if you watch the cold steel videos its obvious the blades well made, but the lack of a TRUE full tang handle design lets this down.
Im sure JIM BOWIE would AGREE
quality, fit, finish excellent, price is generally in th $375 range
which seems high until you look at the quality and realize your buying a weapon that can save your life in a fight, not just a piece of sharp steel, but its size makes it all but impossible, to easily conceal and carrying it daily would be a P.I.T.A. with most dress modes.

the marine K-BAR is far more practical as a daily carry & defensive knife at at about $67-$78 its far less expensive, and far more likely to be carried

Someplace packed away in one of my footlockers is a Kbar. Nice knife.

I also have several Ghurka knives, one given to me as a gift by a Ghurka. It was intended to be given to a Ghurka officer upon retirement. Nice knives but damned if I can figure out how to use them. They told me and I also read that the more you use the traditional hand forged ones the sharper they got. I'll take their word for it as I intend to leave mine packed away

the Gurkha knife, or kukri is designed as a CHOPPING and slicing design not to thrusting, although it can be used that way, its ergonomically designed to maximize both the chopping and slicing effect in a slashing arc, it can take off arms or heads easily and its design allows it to cut the arms/legs of most shield users, in sword type combat, its curve and forward weighted blade will allow you to out cut almost any small hatchet of similar weight/length

Every once in a while someone in the world comes along and reminds us what a true hero really looks like. A 35 year-old Gurkha soldier named Bishnu Shrestha was riding a train when he suddenly found himself in the middle of a massive robbery. 40 men armed with knives, swords and guns stormed the train and began robbing the passengers.

Bishnu kept his peace while the gang snatched cell phones, jewelry and cash from other riders. But then, the thugs grabbed the 18 year-old girl sitting next to him and forcefully stripped her naked. Before the bandits could rape the poor girl in front of her helpless parents, Bishnu decided he had enough.

“The girl cried for help, saying ´You are a soldier, please save a sister´,” Shrestha recalled. “I prevented her from being raped, thinking of her as my own sister.”

Here's the part of the story that makes you cheer. He pulls out a kukri (i.e. a knife) and proceeds to kill 3 of them, injure 8 of them, and causes the rest to flee. During the battle, he suffered a severe knife injury to his left hand, from which he's now recovered.

For those who don't know...this is a kukri. Maybe it's okay to bring a knife to a gunfight, after all.
