Bill "BillaVista" Ansell does a wonderful job of covering the many aspects of the disk brake system.

He also includes a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet to calculate the different parameter in the brake system. I have included the Excel file in the section "Spread Sheets and Engine Related Forms". You can find it at the link below, just look for the thread titled "Brake System Calculations By Bill "BillaVista" Ansell"

Bill describes his article best in the paragraph below.

This article isn’t a beginner’s guide to brakes – it is assumed that you are already familiar with the basic components. It’s also not aimed at maintenance – how to replace the brake pads on this or that model truck – there are many factory and aftermarket repair manuals that cover the topic well. Also, because this article is intended for off-road rigs, I won’t be covering aerodynamic braking or down force. Finally, if for no other reason than I detest the damn things, I will not be covering drum brakes, but instead focusing on disc brake systems.

I created a PDF file from his web page and then added 19 bookmarks to make it much easier to find all the sections in the TOC above. If you can click on a pic to see a larger one, it will take you to his website to view it. Links should work and you can do searches for text if you know what you are looking for.

You can download the PDF file at the link below.
