Trail Boss powder

Grumpy have you ever used Trail Boss for reloading anything? I have tried to use it at least 1/2 dozen times and by half charge I'm overflowing my cases even with compressed loads I wouldn't think that I would have to use my 20 ton press to compress the loads

no! no one Ive known has used it, for hand guns ,
I mostly use BLUE DOT, H110, 2400, IMR 4198, unique, rl7.

I have some of the powders you listed and have loaded with them but the Trail Boss is supposed to be a powder for 45 ACP and Colt and so far I have not found a use for it and I'd rather make bullets out of it than fun things that also go bang

well, keep us up to date on your progress or lack there of!

I have used Trail Boss for reduced loads in the 45/70 and the 470 Nitro and it was very satisfying. Here’s the link to the information I used to get started:

Trail Boss

I have a few of those calibers to try and the formula is worth a try I was ready to burn the powder in the fire I was so disgusted with trying to find a use for it

keep in mind its designed for safe low pressure target work, and avoiding potential peak dangerous pressures with old fashion cartridges in older firearms

Most of my guns are newer and some that I have questions about like my Henry 45/70 I contacted Henry about loading thats why I asked about Trail Boss everything I tried it on per book loads overflowed the case way before it should have after checking book loads against my other books I never found anything it worked in and I'm still a bit uncertain about it

its designed that way (extra bulky) to try to limit over charges in older lower strength firearms, as a few morrons, think,
you simply fill a cartridge case and seat a bullet when reloading

I am on a couple reloading sites and some of the things I read really make you wonder. LOL I think they should take the warning labels off of everything and let nature take its coarse
