Alright so I have a 1994 Base Model C4 as project car I've been working on for a while now. The System has been completely flushed more than 3 times and it overheats at idle and up to speed. temps get up to 235F within five to ten minutes or so. I have replaced the radiator with an Ecklers 3 Core Aluminum as well as the water pump. I've also done a thermostat delete due to the car still overheating and am now replacing the lower radiator hose due to some research I've done on it constricting due to high temps as well as doing a heater core delete because I don't have the skills or the money to replace it Im not quite sure what to do anymore seeing how nothing has really worked any help would be greatly appreciated Any Pictures or other information you may need let me know thank you!
one more reason any mechanic should own a decent accurate, infrared temp gun:like: for trouble shooting

Id start by verify BOTH fans are running not just one,and personally Id have swapped the temp sending unit for one that kicks in at 210F not 225-230F and Id point out that, that you might have issues not directly related to the radiator not cooling correctly, Id sure check for a leaking head gasket a defective water pump or cracked head/block, or clogged hoses
Id also point out the fact that the trans fluid and oil both contribute to the load on the radiator so adding a remote trans fluid cooler with a powered fan that reduces trans fluid temps before the radiator cools the trans fluid helps reduce the cooling load on the radiator,
Id also point out that you might have a defective water pump, on my 1996, Ive had to replace my pump and I only have 59K miles

cooling off that c4 corvette

as always, posting clear detailed pictures of any custom mods, you do to any of your cars, from several perspective angles , along with a detailed description of what you were trying to accomplish and the theory behind any mods being done would be VERY WELCOME! 85 and 87a -> Ground 86 -> Power...

Mounting An Effective Trans Cooler On A C4 Corvette

now I know few cars with less room to mount an efficient oil cooler with a fan than a c4 corvette, and after I installed a 3200 rpm stall converter in my corvette it became obvious I needed an aux trans fluid cooler. theres very little under the hood room and ground clearance is already minimal...

be aware that both clockwise rotation and counter clockwise rotation LT1 water pumps exist
and different YEAR LT1 water pumps generally DO NOT INTERCHANGE

how the cooling system works, basics

READ THE LINKS, POSTED IN THIS THREAD and their sub links ALSO Almost all engine combos run best, and have the least wear and emissions when your running a 180F-190F t-stat and the engine coolant temp stays in the 180F-210 f range, most of the time. keep in mind a t-stat does not limit the...

auto cooling system flow rates and heat transfer

have you ever read stuff posted on line and just shake your head at the lack of facts or in some cases outright MS-INFORMATION being posted? Honestly I'm amazed at the common myths and out right ms-information that's constantly repeated over and over as if it were facts, and a bit mystified that...

do I need the fan shroud?

So here is what I got. I have an electric fan on my car. I'm getting a new radiator that is a good bit thicker in the car and the aluminum shroud would require some... Modification to fit. My question is would it be advantageous to modify the shroud over just attaching the fan directly to the...

just some info too think thru the engines state of tune effects the heat generated, vacuum leaks tend to increase heat, octane used effects the heat, your ignition timing curve effects the heat the type of coolant effects the rate heats transferred...

running too hot,

Too hot intake temp=Vapor lock So when I put my 454 together initially, I installed a 170* thermostat with the misaligned thought it would help keep the motor cooler during the break in period. Wrong! The T-Stat never closed to allow the water to be cooled off by the radiator and fans. I didnt...
