383 build advice .....

hey grumpy, im planing on building 383 to put in my s10. im gonna use my s10 as a daily driver so i realize i cant go nuts, but having to use premium isnt a problem i really need some guidance on the combo. i plan on useing my 4.030 speedpro flattop hyper pistons and my 5.7" 4340 forged scat rods. im gonna buy a cast steel crank from scat and thats as much as ive figured out so far. i need help on everything else tho. if i could make 400hp & 430ft.lbs or close,i would be more than happy. anything will help big time.thanks in advance

it would help a great deal to know more about your drive train combo, car weight, and budget, and your rear gear ratio, tire diam. the transmission you'll use, and the basic use of the truck.
those factors will have a huge effect on the final results.
you'll need a decent low restriction exhaust , and selecting the components will be restricted a good deal by your answers

I think youll find a good deal of info relating to your goals in these threads

well,i will be using a TH350 tranny, around 3-4k as a budget, 3.42 rear gears, and the tires measure in at 28". the truck weighs 2800lbs and it will be mainly used on the street as a daily driver with the occasional 1/4 mile pass.

youll want to start by purchasing the swap manual as theres a good bit of info on fitting a V8 into the truck youll want to know

Id strongly suggest buying the largest capacity oil pan you can find, for that swap,
Id go with a weiand 8501 intake and a holley 750cfm vacuum secondary carb

youll be hard pressed to beat your performance on a basic , 350-383 hydraulic cam engine, with a HOLLEY 750 vacuum secondary carb for both ease of tuning and low cost ,high value in most street cars looking to make under about 450hp.
and a decent street/strip intake that matches is the
