93 Suburban with Electrical Short

I have a 93 GMC Suburban with dual heat/air. Also upgraded OEM sound system with 6 speakers and graphic equalizer and tape deck. (All Factory Eq)

Initially the short was drawing about 275 ma with everything off. Started unplugging fuses and when I unplugged CTSY fuse (courtesy lights) and the drain on battery dropped to 30 ma.

I noticed the graphic equalizer still had lights on and it felt much warmer than anything else so I unplugged it. The drain went down to 185 ma, still too much. I found the amplifier for the rear side door speakers under the drivers seat, unplugged it and the drain on the batter went down to 155 ma.

I found a CTSY schematic for a 1999 GMC Yukon that I hoped was close. I have unplugged the cigarette lights, lighted vanity mirrors and door switches, with no improvement.

I just want to sell this vehicle, it's from Illinois and rusted very bad. Anything I do is not going to improve the selling price by much, it's only worth less than a $1000. But I hate to sell it someone when it wont even keep the battery charged. Guess I could just leave the CTSY fuse out and tell them why.

Any ideas where to look?
Does anyone have a better schematic? Maybe with the equalizer and tape deck shown.

Its My Suburban shown at your house Rick.
But mine is a 1994 K1500 4X4 model.

Is your 1993 Burban a 4X4 model ?
What engine ? 350 Tbi sbc or 454BBC.
Been told the 454 only installed in the 2500 3/4 ton models.

Check all the door jamb switches.
Drivers side especially.
Switch mounted on the side of dashboard.

did you test the battery to see f there was a surface charge or drain across the battery? grab your VOM and place one electrode on a battery terminal and the other electrode on the top of the battery. also, glove box and center console, along with rear door/hatch/trunk lights can stay on and suck a battery dry.

Checked the surface drain and it's zero.
Glove box light checked. No Change
Center console does not have light, that I can find.
Rear door switch unplugged. No change.

Will try to check for lights on after dark soon.

I like Suburbans. Gas mileage is so so.
After last winter no 2 Wheel drive vehicle would have made it through snow drifts on my Farm House 450 Feet something lane. Rammed through 3-4 snow drifts in 4 wd Low foot on the floor gas .
No way I was going to shovel at that snow by hand.

Thinking for you Rick.
Never had parastic battery draw issues on my Suburban.
Been trouble free since I replaced the 4L60E trans back in Febuary or so.

Thanks Grumpy, that is spot on! I've bookmarked it and already downloaded several diagrams.

I've been distracted many times this weekend from my intended goal, so I'm going to put the truck aside and go to the TBucket and get it read for the LM-2 computer. I can look over those diagrams over later when I can't be in the garage.

One thing that has me wondering ..... is there a connection between the graphic equalizer and the rear side door speaker AMPLIFIER always getting power. Something I will keep in the back of my mind as I look over those diagrams.
