now Im not sure if most of you gentlemen, think like I do, but in most cases when I build a performance car I want large too huge brakes that work very effectively, and a suspension and tires that work correctly with those brakes,and in most cases I want to get those brakes installed correctly AS CHEAPLY as I can. the problem is that the rear differentials I generally use (DANA 60 and ford 9")come from salvage yard cores that are reworked in some or most cases, (new axles, bearings, ring& pinion and brakes)that may have originally had drum brakes factory installed.
I try to avoid even thinking about 10-12 bolt rears as I shredded several early in this hobby and don,t particularly like the idea of wheels exiting the car at speed.

one factor many guys don,t realise is that when you narrow a rear differential to allow larger tires to fit under the wheel wells after the correct clearance issues are completed, that you don,t necesarily need to put the same type of rear outer bearing ends, brakes, or axles back that were original, theres not much preventing your ordering custom axles that vary a good bit from stock, or having axles with ford end bearings and disc brakes on a dana 60 center section for an example, or chevy brakes on a dana 60, for that matter if you want to get creative. theres no reason not to run a dana 60 , gm 14 bolt,or a ford 9" in a high horsepower application if your reasonably sure the stock rear differential design even once its beefed up will be marginal in strength.
