Alt failure?

Right - I noticed on my new gauges that my voltage was reading low while running. Battery static was 12.10 (I guess it wasn't charging) and while running, voltage drops under 12

I checked if the idiot was grounding,'twas. As far as I can tell the (new) Bosch Alt that came with the engine failed.

Any idea what could cause an alt failure? As far as I can tell the wiring was correct. The batt might not be in the best shape. Maybe, loose battery posts.

I am asking because I intend to return the Alt and mail them tomorrow

Basically, as I plan to bring it back… is there anything I could have done (bad batt, battery posts loose, etc) that could have led to this Alt failure.

I don't know Dorian .
I did not build the KG Alternator for You. Someone else did.
The CS144 Alternators I built for You & Rick worked from the Get Go & Still Working.
In the TT & T-bucket.
I am the Best at it. All I will say on this Topic.

Lolololol - AWESOMENESS. And indeed I REALLY like my Alt. It ROCKS!!!!! The problem is the Alts also spin the fan behind it inside the tin and I wanted a turnkey engine. :-/

Well, I am going to assume there was no fault of mine and tell him he needs to replace this. What a pain tho'!

According to the builder, the idiot light needs to be connected as it is the remote voltage sensor as well. We should be all right.
