personally I don,t think , looking at this video that the shoot was justified,
I think a good dose of pepper spray and a night stick would have handled this
but admittedly, I don,t know all the facts

Id point out that it looks like the cop shot the guy 7 times at very close range,
and I'd suspect he was using a 9mm,
notice that there,s almost no immediate reaction,
to the rapid and repeated bullet impacts,

and the guy goes to the hospital and later dies, this is not all that unusual with a 9mm,
its obviously lethal but its hardly an instant fight stopper ,
especially with some ammo choices or if the aggressors on serious drugs.
now no common defensive and easily concealed handgun will instantly stop a determined aggressor,
unless the major bones, major organs or central nervous system is destroyed ,

but, decades of experience by the cops and military show that where you hit the opponent is key to getting results,
and you can certainly increase the odds of stopping an opponent,
if your not randomly shooting at the intended target but rather shooting at specific critical areas.
by use of proper ammo, lots of practice, a good knowledge of anatomy,
and selecting a cartridge and handgun chambered in 357 or larger caliber ,
that has at least 450 ft lbs of rated energy and a 150 grain or heavier bullet,
simply because having the penetration potential to break bone and punch through
surrounding tissue ,
increases your chances to destroy vital organs or skeletal support structure

I don't have access to the statistics report I read recently, I think it was a US News article from this summer, it stated how the US leads the world in fatal shootings by police. Why is that? What training are police receiving that so many people can't be handled any other way? That same report addressed the level of experience, better then 80% of the officers involved had less then 36 months on duty and a less then 35 yrs of age.

Every Law Enforcement Training Academy teaches all students they are the ones to come home safe, no if/and/buts.

I heard a Judge once say------Ignorance of the Law is NO EXCUSE!!! If it isn't in writing, it isn't LEGAL. Dead men can't tell lies.

So if you have a gun and you run from the authorities, IMHO you get what you get. Just because you think you are morally right and think you are justified to do something that is ILLEGAL, you need to be shot just for being STUPID, JMHO

Laws are made and passed for all to obey, not just because of your race, religion, creed, or skin color, which you might think you don't have to abide by.
