Stop by after work tomarrow & look up MAC. Old Guard Hottrodder & a Ford Guy.
But he like Pontiacs. My ex Boss from the Diesel Injection shop I worked at last year.
Do a Holeshot Burnout for him also.
He will enjoy !

Went through the corporate hoops on 1 job Grumpy.
I was picked #1 for Lead Tech Auto- Driveabilty Diagnosis & Repair (Days) in Chicago.
Passed background check.
Did the Pee Test into a cup a few days ago.
Pay is really good & full benefits.
Waiting for phone call back.
Call back later this afternoon, Have HR guys personal phone #.

A diesel position is open nearby.
Working on Semi trucks. Pretty big fleet.
Like working on them also.
Kinda funny talking to the guy on the phone.
Thinking he wants me to be on Call.
May be a good deal that way.
After hours $.

What my late bud did.
Worked on them all.
And he Loved Pontiacs & Corvettes too.
Also was a Street Race Maniac Mechanic.
Made me here.

There is also a Race shop in Chi Town area looking for Mechanic.
Really interested.
Taking the 1963 Grand Prix over today.
Check it out.
Found the job on Facebook.

Ed & Me staying busy.
Winging it.
Also hates those Democrats.

I have my AAS Associate in Electronics Technology Degree.

OK, so we have a few more things in common. I stayed with the electronics thing for far too long and got essentially nowhere.
The field was already saturated with old ladies stuffing components into circuit boards. Took Industrial Electronics Tech in
trade school, and later got my AS in Electromechanical Eng Tech from the State Tech College. Worked a bunch of different jobs
that I could quit at any time because I kept my bills low and didn't get anyone knocked up. I never liked kids even when I was
a kid, and still no kids to this day. I eventually got into Maintenance at the Post Office 18 years ago (yes, they have mechanics &
electronic techs & vehicle maint) and the mail is not sorted by hand anymore. Machines do it, and people feed the mail into them.
I keep the machines running. I hope to retire early before the place completely crashes. The job is not great, but the paycheck is
steady and still good benefits. And a retirement plan - until the government figures out how to screw us out of that.

My Edge Is I think outside the Box.
All that have tried to prove they are smarter have failed.
Every single Boss too including the present.
Its a Game Daily.
Sucks. Buts its Reality .

ME TOO. I used to get off on proving all these "SMART" people wrong - bosses, professors, teachers, etc.
But what you have to realize Brian, is that while you are caught up in proving how smart you are to these dummies,
you are making them rich - instead of yourself. Been there - done that. I learned.
Put your hard work into the things you like to do, and just work a job you can tolerate to pay the bills.
You will be further ahead in the long run.

yeah one thing I learned to do as an engineer was to always give the credit to my boss IN FRONT OF UPPER MANAGEMENT AND CUSTOMERS
this might seem counter productive to your personal advancement, but if done skillfully and under the correct circumstances it eventually forced upper management to see that my boss was in most cases clueless so I kept getting better perks as my boss could seldom afford to screw up the gravy train, produced by happy customers constantly calling in complements, on well done jobs and the increased cash flow rates far exceeding his contemporaries, since he had very little control over or real knowledge of what the actual job required, MOST bosses eventually just learned to step back and accept the circumstances they had benefited from but were smart enough to realize they were not really contributing too, but were also afraid to screw it up.

You guys are missing the point.
A Guinness is needed instant 1/2 second thinking & 100 % dead on correct answers.
And must be 100 % physical tip top shape like a US Marine.

And they want you compliant like a Democrat sucking the system dry.

I am not a Democrat.

The 1st & 2nd I am.

You said a mouthful there!

Got The Job Grumpy.
Chi Town.
Start The Day After July 4 2016.

Just in time.
State of Illinois is shutting down July 1st.
No Fiscal Budget passed yet.
2nd year in.a row now.

Krazy Ed texted me Grumpy.
Said to get over to the Race shop & stop in.
Still looking for a Mechanic.

Working on my Resume.
Email it off.
Print off a copy with Photos.

I can take the 87 Corvette Roadster.
Or the 1963 Grand Prix.
Think I want to drive the Grand Prix.

Ed says they are Nazi's at the other job.
Supposed to start today.
Told them I could not be there at 6:00 This morning.
Suburban apart.
And I am not driving 100 mph in my Corvette in Chicago to be there without my Toolbox.

Got a lot of lip......
You know how that goes over with me.
Unless your Old School (mafia) I am not going to listen.

He hung up on me.
So I went around & took photos of the Suburban with the empty engine compartment.
And the replacement TBI engine short block minus heads.
Then the bare 193 TBI Heads.
Pictures of the Freshly ground valves.
Texted them off to HR's managers cellphone.
1 hour later he called.
Didnt answer.
Then got a text message BRIAN START NEXT MONDAY.
LOL.

Went pretty good Grumpy.
Everyone thinks the Grand Prix is a 1965, but it a 1963.
The shop owner guessed wrong also.

Looking to hire a Mechanic next month at the Hotrod Race shop.
Wait and see.
Swing by when I can.

Things are kinda slow right now.
A few Diesel Mechanic positions out there I qualify.
Nothing local unless I want to flip Burgers at Mickey D's.

How do I say this without pissing you off?
You have the knowledge, but for someone so smart, you are keeping yourself at the bottom - and unemployed.
Now I only know you from what I have read about you here, but you have to learn to stop proving how smart you are
to your stupid bosses. You can be the smartest, greatest, fastest mechanic ever, which makes them lots of money, but for
whatever reason you are always looking for work.
Now before you start yelling at me, keep reading. You have the intelligence and experience - find a way to be THE BOSS!
But no one is just going to hand that to you, you're going to have to work up to it. Or save your money and start your own shop.
I know you have what it takes to do it.

Its been a goal & dream of mine for decades Mike.
Be my own boss.
Own my own shop garage hotrod shop.

Got married.
I knocked up the Wifee' twice.
Wont trade my boys for nothing.

My Bud Ed is unemployed too.

We work great together.
Always have since 2001.
Things were great.
Till Jackass Bam showed up & his communist democratic ways.

They use you up & when done spit you out.
Life of a Mechanic today.

Unlike most I still have my wits, Brain, & in great physical shape yet.

Keep plugging away.
All I can do.

Got a call from a transmission shop today too.
Haven't called back yet.

I bet you don't see a lot of old diesel mechanics, right. That is very hard, strenuous work, and it takes it's toll on a body.
Look around, you might be the old timer. Lucky you are still in good shape. But everyday life can change that in an instant.
Do you really want to do that work for the rest of your working years? Ever plan on retiring? Will you be financially able
to retire. Your older, retired friends have the luxury of farting around with their projects at their leisure - you don't.
AIM HIGHER.
I can see why you like Trump. So do I. And he should win the Presidency. But the thing that will make him fail will be his
inability to know when to keep his mouth shut, pissing too many voters off, and he will lose the election. Sound familiar???

OK, I'm done. I just hate to see someone as intelligent as you are waste so much effort.

Your right.
I am the Old Timer Mechanic now Mike.

Guy like me is hard to find.

I was like I am before Trump.

Not really much of a Voting choice.
Hillary or Trump.

No way to retire unless I run my own show.

Most of the shops I worked at prior are long gone.
Closed down.
Recession did them in.

Diesel Mechanic intrests me yet.
Big money to be or can be made.
Off season to hire.
Starts in early fall to Late November to get in.

Dangerous though.
Road Calls on side of Route 80 Interstate at times.
Been there done that at last job.
Pay Ok.
Underpaid.
Chicago wages is $32 per hour starting Diesel Mechanic.

One thing in commen with the group...
Struggle nationwide.
