If all go's well will have hp / tq numbers next week. now what numbers do you think it will make , I say 480hp at 5800rpm and 502tq at 4500rpm.

As for cam it's a comp cam xr282hr , gross valve lift is .510 / .520 duration @50 230 in /236 ex intake centre line is 106.0 and lobe separation angle 110.0 , with the 1.6 roller rockers lift will 544 in / 555 ex.

static compression is 10.017 and the dynamic effective compression ratio is 8.004.

carb is a AED ho seires 750 Mechanical double pumper, headers are 4-1 tuned length & mandrel bent with 1 3/4" primary & 3" flanged outlet.

so how much do you think.
hi every one , got the numbers. I must say I was disappointed , next time will look at a different cam as it was to small for the combo. anyway it made 450hp @ 5500 rpm and 457.6 tq @4400 rpm.

you could get gains on an engine combo like thats, peak power numbers, posted above, by swapping to a cam and intake manifold like this, but changes like that will require matching the drive train, gearing and compression ratio, so a bit of research will help before blindly shopping for parts

but keep in mind higher compression, in the 11.7:1 -12:1 range, and a longer duration cam, like this posted above, will shift the whole torque curve higher in the rpm band and might require a higher stall converter speed on cars with an auto trans, and that may make the car far less street drive-able, every choice is a compromise in some area

Thanks Grumpy , the plan was for a street car engine but wanted 500hp at the flywheel. I did the research frist before buying parts. This is a great combo with the right parts to be strong and reliable. The only change in my plan was going with a smaller cam but now i know from this build i could have gone with this cam xr294hr which would of made 500hp+ and still be a good reliable street engine. i just did'nt want to over cam it. Was still happy with the out come , just disapiontted that i did'nt hit my goal of 500hp. This is my frist engine build and it have given me a better understand and knowloge of what it take's to build a great engine.

Welcome to the forum!!!

Looks like you took your time and built a really nice 383. As far as that
little mistake about the camshaft, that's gives you a reason to build
another one ..... right !!! :p
