Jim , a friend stops by to tell me the 1996 LT1 corvette he bougth last year now has a BLOWN UP ENGINE?..he knows this because its got a "bad BEARING KNOCK" and "BARELY IDLES"
I have him trailer it over to the shop, and he wants to instantly pull the engine and get into the rebuilding process.
I said lets find out whats WRONG and LETS LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE KNOCK before we get too far into this, a few tests reveal two busted rocker,s that appear to be the result of low oil flow, an enine that reads two quarts low on oil, and a defective oil pressure and leaking oil pressure sensor, swapping to a new set of COMP ROLLER rockers I had and changing oil and the OIL filter and a new sensor result, in the car running just fine!

never assume you know the cause,of a problem, issolate, test and verify

JACK stopped by today to show me his new 428 Pontiac engine he had installed in his 1964 tempest, with street tires and 4.11:1 rear gears and a 4 speed transmission its a fun car,BUT he was not all that happy as it had less than 20 miles on the new engine and it idled roughly and just didn,t have the power he thought it should, a few quick checks and adjustments had him smiling, the tri-power linkage he had on the car, only opened the outer two barrel carbs about 1/3rd of the way, and he had several valves adjusted too tightly, and the ignition timing was off about 5 degrees.
once those little corrections were made he could lay clouds of tire smoke at will.
