c4 corvette one headlight...Fix

O.k if you own an older Corvette your bound to wind up with that one headlight doesn't work scenario. I'm in that situation right now. Now you can shell out $300+ bucks for a new headlight motor or you can fix it yourself for a fraction of that cost. Now some guys will tell you they prefer to work on vacuum others prefer the plug and play of electrical systems. Since the early '80s GM has refined their motors and assemblies to become reliable, quiet and serviceable. If your headlight motor runs but doesn't come up, a minor adjustment might be all that is needed. If your headlight comes up or down only partially then its more than likely the nylon gears that have sheared off teeth. But for most of us its the bushings inside the gear housing. They are a cotton like material that is there by design to absorb vibration and dampen sound, after 30 years its likely that they have turned to dust..Now most people say change to bronze gears, I say wait a minute, the gear your mating up to is still nylon, and not serviceable, and you will chew it up. That has arguments on both sides of the fence. I say new nylon gear, $5 bucks vs 35 for bronze, and a bunch of new white grease good to go. I'll keep updating this post as I get more time, for now check this out.
