Cable Routing for Trunk Mounted Battery

I have a question for those familiar with NHRA or other sanctioning bodies technical requirements.

My Nova has a trunk mounted battery. The positive cable currently exits thru the trunk to outside the car and is routed along the frame rail (for the most part) to the starter on the engine. I am presently re-routing the fuel line from the trunk mounted fuel cell and was thinking about re-routing the battery positive cable thru the inside of the car, up to and thru the firewall to the starter while I’m at it.

It seems to me that an interior routing for the battery cable would be safer than having it exposed to the heat and possible debris impacts associated with the external route. Does anyone know if this interior routing is NHRA legal and/or can anyone think of an issue with this routing i am missing?

Thanks,
Kenny Bee

ID verify with the track, tech inspection, officials. but last time I checked Battery cables and all wiring can be run inside the frame rails.
(ideally with plastic tube condit to reduce any potential vibration
chafing )
and fuel , oil, coolant or brake or any fluid lines must be outside the drivers compartment

(then solder)

Thanks for the info, Grumpy!
Routing the cable inside the frame rails is difficult on a Nova due to the unibody type frame construction and i would rather not disturb the integrity of the frame by cutting holes in it. Unibody frames are kinda flimsy; very glad I have subframe connectors on my car!

I read thru the NHRA rule book and could not find anything prohibiting battery cable routing thru the drivers compartment, so i will probably go that route. Im gonna try to stop by the local drag strip and talk to the tech guys to confirm its legality.
