before about 1973 or so, cars were far easier, to work on, there were SAE and a few metric bolts, standard and phillips screw drivers but some where along the line they snuck in TORX bits, and by about 1984 or so they were so common on G.M. cars that you darn sure needed a bunch of #20-#45 long reach 1/4" drive torx bits, and with TPI and tighter engine bays the longer reach torx bits and 1/4" drive ratchets got a good deal more use

short ones like those above can be useful occasionally.
but the longer reach 1/4" drive versions seem to get more use and obviously quality varies so ID advise finding and buying at least two or three sets of these as they are fairly cheap and don,t seem to last as the tips splines bend or wear over time

shorter sets, t-handles and 3/8" drive can be useful at times but generally in my experience either lack clearance
(the 3/8" drive)
or break easily in the case of the cheap t-handle set
