I have had a DEWALT 1/2" chuck drill for about 15 years three times now the trigger switch has burnt out, the motor and chuck are fine so I had it rebuilt..

and dewalt charges about $50 to replace the $4 switch, so Im going to find a generic switch that can be used the next time it happens, its almost like its designed to generate the repair center money? my craftsman drill I had burned up and so did its replacement, and remember I rarely use drills for anything but light duty simply because I have a drill press I use for the heavy stuff

I saw this posted on a different site!

"Craftsman drill!
Well today I started to drill out spot welds so I can replace the rotted sections of my floor pans. While drilling out a spot weld my drill stated smoking and caught fire! It literally erupted into flames. Has anyone had this happen before or am I just rough on things? "

Ive got several drills in the shop and I can tell you only the MIKITA and Milwaukee drills have so far remained functional over the long term, i have been given several HARBOR FREIGHT DRILLS, over the years as presents or found them dirt cheap at yard sales, most crapped out within hours of first use so don,t bother are you guys finding many current electric drills seem to be rather cheaply made?
