heres a rather interesting bit of info from a guy who didn,t want too pay top dollar for a C5 corvette exhaust , granted his results may not match what you want on your car
but I give the guy a solid B+ for doing his own exhaust fabrication and ingenuity

hello all,

so im sure im not the only one that thinks vette exhausts are WAY over priced amoung just about every thing else . just a quick example, you can pick up a Roush mustang exhaust for about 500$... but a corvette , as im sure you all know try double if not more! pisses me off. the Roush exhaust i helped my friend put on his 2012 GT is just as high quality and has just as much material as any corvette exhaust has, but because its a vette we can double the price.

ok i could rant for ever on this for hours and thats why i decided to do this little experiment.

here are my thought. if the experiment fails then im just going to be stuck buying an exhaust kit... so why not try. plus im not a big fan of whats out there for kits anyway. you really only have two option as far as looks go. you get the quad tips , or the dual tips. and im tired of the lack of creativity so this is what i came up with.

ps. im going to try and post and write next to the pics so i can clarify exactly what i did. so hang tight and let me see if i can get these pics up
ok so the fist thing i did was take out the stock exhaust... obviously. then i used a sawzall to cut the mufflers. after i did that i took the retraining pipe and reattached it to the mid pipe on the car. looks something like this.

so here you can see how i have started to weld some structure to the mufflers. and i also had a local exhaust shop make the "S" bends on the inlet side of both the mufflers for 80$

i welded the hangers and the tips on and painted the flowmasters with 2000 f high temp paint

and as you can see i went with center exhaust. i love is look it makes the car look wider , lower and way more like a race car.
what i love about this system i designed is its so stinking easy to put on and to take off.
