What I have current. 11.000" Dual Friction. 26-spline GM Unit.
Not many miles on it. Around 500-600 miles.
Been told in the past it will hold 700 HP & 700 Ft/lbs Torque by Centerforce Engineers calling them direct.
Dubious .
Has been the Very Best Street Strip clutch I have ever used.
But I have Cooked them Drag Racing Real Hard Run after Run.
Took Several Months of pure abuse.
Clutch was adjusted for correct pedal freeplay daily.
Z Bar mechanical linkage. It works & I prefer over Hydraulic setups.

Retain Centerforce Single Disc Dual Friction clutch for the Street.

Look into McCloud Race Clutches soon.
Many guys have blown up thier Twin Disc Clutches. SBC.
Not impressed.
I will destroy it with the Massive Torque of the RA4 455 T/A.

Crowerglide be nice but way out of reach.
$10,000 dollar Race Clutch.
Called before and they will make it for me to fit a 455 Pontiac V8.
$10k only.

i like my hydraulic setup in the rx7 but i daily drive it, we are talking about two different animals here, i probably make just a cunthair over half the torque you expect to make too so you're really on another level of clutch requirements. tilton makes a valve (which i have in the rx7) that uses a chamfered orifice to slow down clutch engagement on quick clutch snaps, its milliseconds of slip of the slip is there to save drivetrain parts from the super sudden shock.

i understand the technology behind it but it makes getting started in first gear a strange modulating feeling, every other gear is normal enough. ive learned how to drive it but it can be a bitch getting to know it for the first time.

Yes. Try and buy the Clutch Flow control valve Phil.
Save the IRS Rear on your 87 RX-7.

I am going to upgrade to a Strange Engineering Driveshaft later in 2015.
Using the driveshaft from my old 1978 Formula Firebird I owned 1987-1994.
Car is long gone.
Original 70 T/A Driveshaft got twisted in half by previous owner racing with 5.13 gears.
One weak link in all 1970 Firebirds and T/A's stock. Skinny driveshaft used.
GM Corrected in 1971 & used HD Bigger diameter till 1981.

Tilton Hardware is the Very Best Phil.
The Big time drag racers use Tilton and Wilwood.
Sometimes Strange Engineering Carbon Carbon brakes also.

The Centerforce DFX ® Clutch Series is the competition-proven clutch package for select import and domestic applications. The DFX series is engineered for competition standards of quality and craftsmanship. DFX clutch series is aimed at high-end applications that continually demand increased integrity and holding-capacity. Our DFX scores big, not only with holding-capacity and strength, but also provides the best drive from a race-inspired single disc clutch.

The DFX series features the patented Centerforce centrifugal weight system (where applicable) and retains an easy pedal effort, thanks to Centerforce's patented ball bearing actuated diaphragm. That means smooth engagements without detriment or undue wear to the vehicle's release components. The Centerforce DFX performance clutch system is SFI approved for competition with Nodular Iron pressure plate rings and promotes safety by helping prevent drive strap breakage with its reinforced design. Made In USA

Note: Due to the materials used, the DFX clutch series is more aggressive with less dampening; this can cause some additional drive train noise and/or chatter.
