Disc brake conversion on 62 Ford

We recently installed a complete front disc brake conversion on a 1962 Ford F100. The kit came from Classic Performance.

The truck had the original old-school master cylinder.

The replacement unit came assembled as a kit and mounted perfectly in the original location. The supplied bolts were even the correct thread pattern.

The original drum brakes:

The replacement parts were a simple bolt-on installation. The only modification needed was to grind a notch in the caliper housing to clear the mounting bracket. Very straight forward.

New brake lines were run to the front wheels, fliud added and bled, and she was good to go.

I had two delays - Classic Performance accidentally sent me the wrong caliper mounting brackets, and they accidentally sent me two different sized banjo bolts for mounting the brake lines to the calipers. They handled the problems efficiently and got me the right parts.

The truck stops MUCH better now.

thanks for posting clear pictures of the swap,
BTW

approximate cost?
approximate time it took?
any special tools needed?

IS that an old ford (Y) block?

The kit was $700, and another $50 or so for lines, fluid, etc. If I'd had all the right parts to start with, I could have done the job in an afternoon, but waiting for parts stretched the job to two weeks.

No special tools needed. Not a bad installation at all.
