Does this this rag joint look serviceable?

The best rag joints are NOS - nothing compares to the originals. Napa has a good one and you can buy the refurbish kit to save about $10. There is one that Gary1999 uses. I can’t think of the name but can picture the box, it’s green. Come to think about it I bought some from Gary about 10 years ago and still have 1 or 2. Let me know if you want one.
 
Oh, just saw your first post and yes, it’s supposed to waive as you see it. Look for frayed or torn material to indicate a need for replacement.

The owner at Willcox is hunting down the 7 layer rubber like the Originals had. Saginaw was the supplier.
I’ve known guys to go through the junk yards looking for original low mileage, good looking rubber to reuse.
Yet some even go to a U-joint inplace of that rag joint.

In any case yours is the 69 to 82 rj that has the flat spot on the shaft and the 3/4” hole. You are remote so I’m giving you everything I can.

But eyeballing very carefully, I didn’t see any deflection.

they always look wavy, there does not appear to be a thing wrong in the photo, it looks virtually new
