Exciter gear teeth??

Randy_W

reliable source of info
My tranny is from a '94 Buick Roadmaster, I assumed 40 teeth on the speedo exciter gear, but would it be 17 like Firebird/Vette? Reason I ask is when I used 40 teeth for my calculatuion, my speedo, using a cable x-box was showing 100+ by 30-40 mph.

According to that info it should be a 40 tooth. if that's the case I got some work to do, because my speedo is waaaayyy off!
I'm running a Cable-X box just like I did on my '67, but I've long since lost my notes on that one. Oh well, more digging and poking I guess.
Thanks for the quick help guys! ;)

just like when your change gear sets on a rear differential ,theres BOTH a "RING AND PINION GEAR", BOTH have different tooth counts necessary to get things working correctly

Grump, I'm running a 4L60E with electronic speed sensor, converted to manual with a Cable X box from Abbott like I had on my '67. I found out that my 40 tooth is correct for the exciter gear ring, but my sensor it's self bad, so i have to replace it. that's why my readings were way off. Thanks for the help. ;)
