Fuel pump whine!

reliable source of info
My Holley high pressure inline pump started whining it's ass off this afternoon, it's a very low hour unit, but 3-4 years old so no warranty. I bet it doesn't have 25 hours on it, it seems to be working fine, just raising hell! I looked on line and this seems to be a common complaint, several said theirs whined then stopped whining on it's own. You guys ever run into this? :x

its a very comon complain with holley or even other brands of electric fuel pumps, most guys learn to mount them on rubber issolation pads which helps, in most cases they are noisy but run for years, but unless you have the correct fuel pressure regulator and return line that allows the pump to run cooler fuel flow absorbs heat) its almost a given that any electric fuel pump will be noisy evenually

Thanks for the links. I have it mounted with the factory supplied wrap and brackets. It just started suddenly. As I read more, it seems a lot of the Holley pumps are noisy. I'm running the LT1 regulator and 5/16 return line. Is this a failure symptom or do they just whine and keep running?

i think it varies a good bit, the holley pump I had on my race car whined for years, but Ive seen them just suddenly quit working for no obvious reason also

It wouldn't bother me on a race car but it's a pita on my show/cruise in car. Plus I don't want to be left on the road like a Ford driver!

Drove the car today, no whine, go figure! I guess it got a piece of trash or air in it causing it to cavitate. :?
