getting old and loss of memory sucks

I was recently looking over a shelf in the shop and found a cardboard box I had not opened in decades, its been on that shelf since I moved to the new house and shop and was obviously in my old shop and its got a hand written label that says (brake related hardware) I opened it to find 6 boxes of NEW un-used disc brake pads,in two different designs, but I can,t remember for sure what they fit, and they are obviously not for corvettes, as they are far too large, obviously Ill look them up, but it kind of bugs me that Ive got 6 new sets of disc brake pads that have been sitting untouched for well over 14 years on a shelf.
looking at them Im betting they fit both the old 1989 F350 dually or 1996 bronco 4x4 I used for a good while as parts chasers and hunting trip transportation trucks that were primarily needed too tow my car trailer for my race corvettes.until I traded them in, and bought the 2003 chevy avalanche that I recently gave my younger son.
I generally buy and keep several sets of brake pads on hand for any cars, or trucks, I own, so I can swap brake pads when I need to, without running to parts stores as
I hate having overly worn brakes, and they are a simple maintenance item like belts and hoses and u-joints
(YES I HAVE SPARES FOR MOST OF THOSE ALSO)
I tend to buy replacement NAME BRAND parts when stores post discount coupons or have sales , Or I get deals, always ask the parts guys if theres a DISCOUNT if you buy several sets of parts when you order because at times you find that parts that are currently cheap and easy to locate won,t be cheap or even available in 10-20 years, or you'll find the quality of available parts has dropped to the point your reluctant to use them.
that also relates to getting a shop manual for every car, they get much harder to locate after the cars a few years older.
.

but having hauled brake pads around that were un-used for that long makes me realize I'm loosing memory as I get older.
do any of you gentlemen fine (SURPRISE replacement parts stored in your shops occasionally or am I the only old geezer loosing his memory)
