Does anyone here, have any experience tracking down trouble codes and clearing problems with the fairly cheap, HARBOR FREIGHT TROUBLE CODE SCANNERS

it depends on which code reader or scanner, version your referring too, got a link?
do you have a factory shop manual, and a multi meter, vacuum gauge, timing light and infrared thermometer and leak down tester, to test with?
youll also need a chart that may come with the scanner that lists what the codes mean?

these connector cables are cheap and keep you from having to stick your head under the dash as often
I had an early version that worked great , the newer versions cost a good deal more but in theory do a bit more ...but it depends on what your trying too accomplish??
having a few basic meters, gauges etc. helps

every mechanic needs an ANALOG multi meter for testing capacitors with a micro farad scale, AND a DIGITAL MULTI METER

there are now lots of software programs for lap tops that diagnose your cars trouble codes, if you buy a scanner ..or lap top software and the correct connecting diagnostic cable to connect to your cars OBDII port
please post pictures and a detailed report on how it function,s, theres a few links below with a great deal of related info in the links and sub links
then try disconnecting a few sensors and USE THE SCANNER TOO see if the scanner indicates the problem correctly
while you do the testing on the disconnected sensors take notes, and also use a multi meter to test voltage and ohms resistance on connectors and sensors, having listed the results on correctly working and disconnected sensors, and having been listed what the voltage and resistance and trouble codes that result from that testing will come in very handy later as a reference
