have you ever actually WEIGHT your car with you in it?, one of my friends has bragged for years about how light weight his car is, especially since hes installed a light weight hood and trunk lid and installed two race style aluminum seats, the cars a 1968 chevelle thats got a 496 big block in place of the 396 it originally came with, for years hes said it lost an easy 150 lbs from stock with those changes and it should weight about 3550 lbs now, compared to the 3700lbs he thought it weighed stock...Ive just grinned and told him "dream on!" well he got a chance to weigh the car on certified scales
and was SHOCKED to find the car .... Weight, lbs: 4,190
he looked like he just ate a live poison toad when he saw that weight slip at the scales
look if theres one thing Ive stressed is VERIFY what your dealing with before making changes and until you verify every last detail, never assume the car or engine or drive train is operating as you think it is
now he will eventually get over the shock, but as I pointed out that means his car actually makes a bit more hp than he thought given the high 11 second times it runs with slicks
