when I was much younger one of the neighbors got stupid drunk on booze and drugs and started chasing his wife around his yard with an axe, she ran next door to call the police, the owner of the house, let her in and locked the door and grabbed a 30/30 marlin loaded with 170 gain winchester ammo, and as the drunk followed he chopped his way in to the neighbors house ,the wife and the neighbor barricaded themselves in a bedroom, hoping the cops would get there, when this moron chopped thru the bedroom door he caught a 30/30 slug from about 5 feet away in mid chest, he ran about 15 feet and dropped stone dead, the cops only comment was to ask the shooter "why did you not shoot when he chopped thru the front door?" the wife was hysterical , the guy who shot was in shock and spent a good deal of time puking, I knew that neighbor rather well that was doing the shooting.
I got there at the same time as the cops when we heard all the ambulance and cop noise, it was rather obvious everyone was upset.
