Hello From Labrador

Gerdua
Hi everyone.
Duane from Churchill Falls, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada here.
A very small town (population 600) in the middle of Labrador, nearest town 250km down a lonely highway!
'69 Canadian built (Oshawa) Chevelle, 396, 4 speed.
Found this site while researching info on vacuum advance. Got more than I expected and very grateful! Awesome information!
Biggest problem is getting parts shipped here, the exchange rate and duty charges are outrageous.

we will be glad to answer all the questions we can and help where we can.
if you have questions please post and CLEAR pictures always help!!
BTW if your going to get into engine building some research material is always helpful and use of the SEARCH feature on this site will link you to VOLUMES or related info, as will posting questions

Thanks! The hunting and fishing is great. I am a wildlife guide here in Labrador, takes many city folk on their first hunting or fishing trip! BTW, we throw back any lake trout under 24".... to small, it is the law here. This time of year small game hunting, soon be ice fishing... -34 tonight so the rabbits are running!
I'll certainly read through these links. It's been a while since I played with an engine...back before fuel injection was common, so these links will be of great help.

I can,t help being a bit envious here!
and I don,t personally even particularly like that particular year chevelle body style ,
yet theres no dispute that was a GREAT bargain price,
if the cars in good physical shape!

(hey some guys like
BLONDES,
I like
BRUNETTES)

I have yet to obtain any WOW! car. Just a whole lot of low buck classics. My oldest son keeps this one running.

One of my favorite cars, the early Trans Am - any 69 - 71 or SD 73 - 74 but I don't remember how tight they are to drive for my size. 30 years ago I drove a 69 Z/28 and the seat had to be all the way back and the steering wheel was really big rubbing my lap. I had several 1980 z/28s but that was back in 1979/80 and 190 lbs 6' 3" and 36" inseam , I don't remember any problems, but that was a lot of lbs ago.
Any True Mopar Hemi car, 71 or earlier GTO or a 71 or earlier Bob Hurst Olds or the same for a Buick GSX

That's a really nice Chevelle, interior looks brand new! Are they Torque Thrust Ds? I'm getting tired of the GM Steelies and beauty rings. What's the story behind the different dash?

Yes, I was looking for something that had that old school look. real nice. The interior is almost all original, recovered the seats, added the gauges, pioneer stereo and new steering wheel.
The suspension is all original, gonna update that soon. Maybe with Global West or Detroit Speed, or Hotchkis.....not sure witch yet....waiting for the Canadian dollar to bounce back a bit more! anyway, I like to install the delalum bushings when I do.

Ok, but the Dash is different, I don't recall ever seeing that before. I have a shit load of parts for a 69 Chevelle if you need anything I don't hold out for anything near high prices

Not sure what your seeing different on the dash. It is a Canadian built car...astro vents....after market gauges and tach.

I hadn't given any thought to a Canadian model having different dashes. Look at your dash and mine pictured. Yours is flat with round gauges, mine has more trim and square gauges. Not a big deal, just curious, that's all

Well dip me in shit an call me stinky! You.'re right.
Too many pills today. Thanks for the lesson!
