Hello There!

Greetings!I happened across this site sometime last summer… and have been on and off the past 6 months reading thread after thread… so much good information! I feel ashamed to admit that I didn’t even notice the introduce yourself section until today. I suppose that’s what happens when all I do is follow the link loops around and around!
I’m a novice at this… and as family and work allows I plan on putting what I have absorbed here to use.
Thanks for the collective wealth of information,
Troy

Thanks for the welcome. I’ve got a few projects on the table… one mine… one a joint venture with my father. I’m hoping we can get my 14 year old son motivated to participate on that one.
Several years back I moved my family into a neighborhood that turned out to be full of gear heads of various sorts… and as a result found myself needing something to tinker on that wasn’t daily transportation… something to put a few kiddos in or the wife… and take cruising. A 92 Camaro fell into my lap… almost stole it. It was a driver… needed some TLC, hell still needs some. Have had fun doing the basic top end/bolt on upgrades and enjoyed driving it around.
That lasted for a while… then the familiar song started playing and it is time to make it better. Planning a small block build… and general beef up of the car. Still want to maintain street manors for cruising, some strip fun... you know the deal.
The long term/joint venture project is an Olds convertible that has childhood memories for me. It’s been sitting in the same dark corner for the last 20-25 years… time for a resurrection this spring.

Think that is enough rambling for now. My apologies for being long winded.

Oh yes.... been reading those and the plentiful others! They have already saved me from potentially expesive poor choices in mis-matched compenents... once I settle down on mybuild choices I will post my shopping list for the feedback to begin! Thanks Grumpy!

You've got a long ways to go, before being long winded! :)

Welcome to the form, what part of the world do you live in?

Indy… a short haul up I-35 in Wichita. I will get around to updating my profile soon.
Those are great reads as well philly… it’s re-assuring to me that you guys reference some the threads that I have already found to be most helpful in my planning process!

Hell Yortdaddy, thats about all I do is read the links. Be amazed how much you can learn by just doing a simple thing like reading. I also have a ongoing friendship with Indycars. He's about finished with his SBC 400/2004R build in his T Bucket and about to fire it up.

Links and links and links! But there is certainly a ton of good stuff in there! I find myself reading the same information over and over and taking notes… running the various calculators… I think I’m starting make it all click. I have a small collection of books from the past few years that I thought had taught me a thing or three… then I stumbled across this site and the flood gates opened!
It’s nice to meet you all!

Ok, I split the topic at the Feb 18 as you requested Yortdaddy.

The new subject line is "Father & Son Chevy Build Project". I had to give it a new name, but if you would like to change it, just edit the very first post in the new thread. That should change it for every post in the entire topic.

No problem Troy!

Interesting fact ..... Bob (busterrm) is in Wichita Falls and you are in
Wichita and I'm right in the middle. I think the universe must be talking
to me! I wonder what it's trying to say???? :D

I wish I could have done what you are doing with your son, you will be
rewarded many times in the future for doing so!!!

I really hope so! He's 14 and sometimes I feel all he is interested in is gaming with his headset on. Got him out for some bicycle ride time this afternoon in the wonderful weather... might have to pick up a mountain bike for him.

Welcome, am sorry to be a little late on the welcome. i just noticed a few of the new post :O. i have to check the introduce yourself section more often.

For your son, i dont know if there are racing track or trails around but a motocross is a good way to get a young boy to leave the video game(well it work with me hehe) and to introduce them to mechanic.

I have a friend locally, he is really into drag racing, but hes son will NOT get in the shop working with him, and he have no interest into muscle car :/.
Seem like muscle car and gas engine is not so interesting to the younger as it used to be for us.
