hey how do you tell an LT5 from an LT4 engine

hey grumpy?
I found a 1996 corvette for sale but the guy selling it is clueless as to if its an LT1, LT4, or LT5 how do I easily tell the engine type

A lot of guys thought my '67 was an LT4 because of my paint job. There are obvious differences but a lot of people either don't look that close or all they know is a red intake means LT4.

happened across this old thread and thought i would add a couple things, first there were no zr1's built as 96 models, second, in 96, if the car is a stick shift vette, its got an lt4, if its an automatic vette, its got an lt1. the lt1 and lt4 top end can be quickly discerned by the area around where the intake runner meets the head, theres extra meat there on lt4's because of the raised intake port roof... see images here:
