While troubleshooting my ignition issue I decided to check the voltage at the power supply to the distributor. At idle it was around 13 volts but while raising the rpm’s the voltage kept climbing, I stopped around 17.8 volts somewhere around 3000 rpm’s.
Going to look around MSD’s web site to see what the high voltage limit is on the E-curve and the 6AL box. It looks as if the voltage regulator may have failed in my alternator. It’s a single wire 100 amp alternator that I got with the Zoop’s serpentine set up. I’m going to try the local alternator shop to see if they can test it and make any needed repairs.
