I noticed a couple days ago that the local NAPA store had a large window add saying that both metric and SAE 7 piece flex head gear wrench sets would be on sale on fathers day for $30 a set!
now thats a SCREAMING DEAL, on a decent quality tool.,
I pointed that out to the wife, but knowing moneys rather tight in our house I really didn,t expect much, more wishful thinking, and she surprised me, by some how getting the cash up from my sons and her chipping in to surprise me with the SAE set this morning, that was a VERY NICE SURPRISE!

Damn! I want a set now! I have been eyeballing a set at the parts store. I just love the guy that came up with that idea, they are a hotrodder's dream tool. I don't let nobody touch my 9/16 racheting boxed end wrench. I have two, 9/16 and 1/4.
 
I went by the local NAPA, and the counter guy said the price and sales is still good ,but they get the sets in rather sporadically,
so if you want a couple sets (metric/SAE) you need to come in early in the day, they get standard stock deliveries, on the two days a week when he gets the shop supplies. because, your options are either pay up front in full and hope they get them in, so he holds a set or two you pay for, for you, with no garantee they will arrive on any specific delivery,or its first come first served because he never knows ahead of time If he will have some arrive as hes had a standing order for several sets a week, every week. but the ware house said they come in and go out almost instantly due to very high demand.
the offer seems to be valid because since I let most of the local gear heads I hang out with know about that offer, I know several guys who have picked up sets
and trust me here its a GREAT TOOL at the PRICE level

They are nice wrenches for price.
Only so much I can sneak by the wife ;) every few weeks....
 
yeah! I know, but its TOOLS!
its not buying drinks for your buddies or a motel room for the mistress so she should at least in theory be a bit understanding! :lol:

but I FULLY understand I,m still trying to get up the $30 for the metric set, now that I got the SAE set for fathers day

I have lots of handtools like you do Grumpy.
About 2/3rds are the very expensive Snap On brand.
There nice to own & use. Weekly tool payments for 20years now
Addiction all Home & professional mechanics have.
I can say I don't own one of those giant mega boxes most mechanics have today.
Working out of the same Snapn On toolbox I bought 18 years ago.
Clearance sale new.
Never owned my own set of flex head gear wrenches.
Borrowed in past. Amazing wreches. Feel good like a Top notch Snap On wrench too.

Still pondering thought
No my drinking days are done.
No mistress. Just a C4 Corvette. Pontiacs. Engines wanting to live again.
Kids to feed & raise to.
Keep working hard.
