I was standing in line waiting to place an order for some special culinary treat my wife had requested I pick up,
when I got a tap on the shoulder from the guy standing in line behind me,
I would never have recognized him , I had by chance run into a guy at a local deli that I had not seen since college ,
he tapped me on the shoulder and asked If my name was PAUL?
I at first did not recognize him until he told me his name,
and then as I still, could not place the face
(remember I was 20-to-25 back then same as this guy
(lots of gray whiskers and an extra 60 lbs)
but then I have no clue how he recognized me as Id also put on 50 lbs since college.
but when he said.....JEFF....blue 1968 dart you helped install a 440 wedge into....I instantaneous got a flash back!
wow, I remember helping him install a 440 mopar engine he got out of a wrecked car, in his 1968 dart ,

I had installed a stroked 496 BBC in a 1965 lemans and he was one of the guys I hung out with back then,
he was impressed with my mechanical skills
(I don,t know why I was clueless back then)
I had not seen this guy since about 1974 .. thats 44 years ago.
he then said .. I still can't believe your lemans beat my 440 dart, back then, I could not believe a Pontiac could get up and scoot like that...
(I still can.t believe after all these decades he remembers ... or thinks the lemans had a Pontiac engine..)
yeah I had 389 stickers, the engine was painted pontiac blue and Id deliberately used Pontiac air cleaners and it had a corvette tri power ,
to simulate a 389 GTO engine, but honestly,
a 396-427-496 BBC does not look much like a pontiac engine.
well I exchanged phone numbers and Maybe we can get back together for some coffee.

So who aged better? Ha-ha.
It's amazing how you can paint say, a Chevy engine Ford blue, say it's a Ford and many will believe it.
Many would believe it's a 283 if you told them it was.
