I think my mind stops working at times when I work on my own car, I had bill come over with a simple ignition miss in his car and I located the problem inside of 15 minutes (cracked porcelain on a spark plug) yet Ive been trying to isolate the problem preventing my corvette cooling fans from operating for a couple hours with little to show for the effort....now theres no doubt Ill locate the source of the problem, it just strikes me a bit amusing that many problems on other peoples cars seem to be far faster and easier to locate at times.
obviously thats not always the case, and I seen many real head scratch-er issues on both my car and other peoples cars but thats part of gaining experience, and once you locate the problem source its one more in an endless list of e4xperiences you add to your mental tool box for future reference.
one factor that is a P.I.T.A. is my printer on my computer stopped working , I generally print out wiring diagrams, and trouble codes and trouble shooting instructions, when working on my car, so I have a instant access to info, (no one can remember or memorize all this electrical circuit crap, unless you work on it on a daily basis, so you get out the factory shop manual and any reference material and your multi-meter, and just start eliminating potential problem sources until you find the real problem.
IM JUST CURIOUS?
how many of you gentlemen go to a computer, print out related wiring diagrams ,get out a multi meter and a shop manual and actually read the shop manual, and step thru the indicated testing procedures? check for voltage ohms resistance, loose connections, etc. and have actually used the shop manual, multi meter and printed wiring diagrams ans instructions to isolate and solve a problem on your car?
