The corvette is back.
Luigi (the garage guy around the corner) is not the greatest mechanic, but at least he’s a nice guy.
He did not fabricate a new center exhaust hanger like I asked him to. He claimed that there was not enough space under there. I knew the job was difficult but hardly impossible.
As it is, the exhaust hangs from the collectors and a bracket behind the mufflers.
The vibration, I suspect, is coming from the pipes not being supported in the middle as is stock on a C3 corvette. At idle you can actually see the pipes wobbling.
The good news is that Luigi did reinforce the rear bracket and that seems to have made a difference. The ride feels smoother now. It has improved. I think it would be even better with a custom support in the middle. So it seems... the unsupported length of exhaust pipe is the source of the annoying vibration.
