HEY GRUMPYVETTE?
will swapping from lets say 15" or 16" rims to lets say 17"-20" rims on my car have any effect other than LOOKS?
good question
larger diam. wheels tend to give you the following advantages
(within reasonable limits)
room for larger brakes
faster heat dissipation from the brakes as the rims tend to act as a heat sink, and radiator
less tire sidewall flex
lighter total tire/rim weight
more effective brake cooling
more road to tire contact area
more consistant braking, (see above)
slower tire wear due to the slower rotation per distance traveled
the larger contact area, and less sidewall flex allows more aggressive driving
slightly more pavement to frame/oil pan clearance
