The factory records state that the curb weight of a 1968 GTO is 3,725 lbs.

The same factory records indicate that the 1968 Catalina Convertible curb weight is 3,980 lbs.

Only 255 lbs difference, now with my 3.73 posi I knew this car felt fast!

Still, I never feel comfortable in older cars at high speeds on the street. Now my Z06 is a different story.

My 70 Wildcat came in under 4000 lbs when I weighed it at the strip. I was surprised.

Weigh the 1968 Catalina convertible Richard. Know exact weight then.

The MUSTANG AWD EURO Chassis Dyno at work has a built in weigh scale.
Nice.

I did, it's about 4100 on my bathroom scale here. Figure a full tank, extra stereo and speakers and this car now has 15" wheels and tires compared to 14s from the factory - so there is some of the extra weight. Mohawk says allow 1.3 to 1.7 % inaccuracies.

I really like your car, my sister had a 70 back in the mid 70s and people thought she was rich. Motor Trend called it "the new generation Dr's Sports Car. I wish I had a picture of hers. It was a little darker green with a black vinyl top and rear fender skirts with a pair of swept back antennas (one on each side) on the rear quarters.

The PHS information I have includes a document for shipping weight of 3,997 for this convertible.

Not too bad Richard.
4,300 lbs Race weight with a driver.

Not that It really matters today because I am no longer on DC and wanted there but think about a much smaller modern car full of plastic & Aluminum & other modern materials weighing 4500-5000 lbs.
The Challanger Hellcat.
Does not make any sense now does it ?

The Wildcat's not mine anymore. I sold it recently after owning it 25+ years. I'm slowly selling off most of the cars. Had 15 cars and a couple trucks 10 years ago, down to 8 vehicles now. I used to buy, fix, sell, swap, and flip cars most of my life. Every few years I'd keep one cool one.
