internal mag timing

Grumpy, I'm sending my magneto off to Joe Hunt to have it tuned up and set up for my engine and I need to know ho much initial advance to have put in it.
Here is what I have: 355 small block (.030 bore) .00 deck flat top pistons.
High output Corvette heads pocket ported and the chamber are polished and sized to 58cc. The valves are stock (1.94"/1.50") The compression ratio
is 11.3 .
The cam specs are, duration 254*/254*. Lift @.050" .488"/.488" Lobe separation 114*
The magneto puts out about 6 amps, but I don't know how much initial advance to have put into it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

It really depends upon if your using pump gas or Race gas for Fuel.
Your cam is pretty radical for the street.

Id strongly suggest you discuss that with the tech guys on the phone, who are doing your rebuild, concerning your particular combo, and ask for suggestions, but Ive generally use a vertex with a built in 12 degree advance curve

Thanks Grumpy, That info was just what I needed. I'll be shipping the mag this afternoon. The old adage, "When all else fails read the directions" should add, "and when that doesn't help ask Grumpy" !

I'm always more than happy to help when and where I can.
after all the whole reason I started the site was to help out newer guys so they could avoid all the miss information and mistakes I had to wade thru in learning this hobby's skills, and help guys avoid spending a ton of cash learning things the hard way, about what works and whats a darn waste of money and time!
