"Is there a stigma associated with buying a complete crate motor?
The complete ZZ502 looks like a reasonable value, with a new block, forged crank/pistons, roller, aluminum heads, and carb/ignition ready to go. 500hp is enough for me, the car will never see the dragstrip.

Sure, part of the reason I would do it is to be cooler than my current motor is. BUT... only motor heads would know what it is. Would motor heads look at a crate and think I was dumb because I couldn't put together my own combination of stuff? And if I couldn't impress the impressionables, that would seem to negate part of the reason for the change to a ZZ?

I ask because .. I just don't feel like doing that with an engine, and I suspect the builders would be insulted by a request for 502-like motor. "

most guys won,t know or care that its a crate engine unless YOU tell them, simple comedic , or component changes like adding a set of tall cast aftermarket aluminum valve covers, or a vertex magneto will change the look enough so few will think its a crate engine
