Grumpy?
its rather common, for my ar15 to need a nudge? by that I mean, if I chamber a cartridge, and fire the rifle , about every 5-6 shots ,
the rifle fails to fully chamber the next cartridge,
I need to tap the bolt assist to fully seat the bolt, any ideas?
a great many relieability issues with AR15 based rifles are related too,
either,
the magazines being used or the ammo itself. but proper cleaning and lubrication is
mandatory.
the AR15 is based on a well proven military design thats over 50 years in service, if properly cleaned and maintained, lubed and used with new quality ammo from good magazines its well known for reliability.
yeah there are cheaply made AR15 rifles that are NOT as well made as some others, I found COLT, STAG-ARMS HK and a few others to be decent quality,
if you purchase a rifle at bargain prices for less than 1/3rd of what the brand name version costs theres a reason the rifle costs considerably less. (lower quality parts and less quality control)
Id suggest you as a first step carefully disassemble and clean the rifle and run a few dozen solvent soaked patches and the proper bore/chamber brushes,
over the areas needing to be carefully cleaned, this should be repeated about every 200 cartridges, clean the gas tube with solvent spray, clean the recoil tube and lube it internally, and you may want to replace the recoil spring,
or at the end of a day at the range and certainly before the guns stored.
if you spray the bolt assembly with a moly lube spray after its cleaned properly, and well lubed,
Most AR15 rifles tend to function well with proper ammo and magazines,
proper cleaning, lubrication, good ammo and magazines,
go a long way to increase reliability.
FROG LUBE is a decent lubricant

CLP is one of my favorites

there are good and mediocre , mil-surplus and commercial magazines shop carefully, personally I've had more issues with synthetic magazines, and many Chinese import magazines are total crap quality

you might not be the first guy to disassemble and clean the moving parts with a can of spray carburetor or brake cleaner, run a few solvent soaked bore patches soaked in hoppes solvent and then lube the moving parts with spray oil, like CLP, or Liquid wrench ... Ive seen several guys go that route before leaving the range week after week, but spray the bolt and receiver interior with moly, the moly fills the micro cracks & pores and helps a good deal with lubrication at higher heats, the other oils also help, and frequent cleaning is MANDATORY
it will look like its a bit dirty as the moly resembles a graphite dust, but its much slicker, and aids function.
Id suggest buying and using new and properly cleaned rather standard american made 20 or 30 cartridge magazines,
and use factory ammo from a major commercial manufacturer,
like LAKE CITY, REMINGTON, WINCHESTER ,
not low quality imported crap, Chinese or Russian, steel case ammo,
is known to cause issues like wolf, or reloads of unknown quality.
