for the price I think you could modify your stock oil pan to something a bit better , but many people would rather avoid the work and buy parts off the shelf, and a 8" deep 7 quart oil pan that fits a one piece oil rear seal (1991-1995) BBC has its place

Make:
CHEVROLET
Beginning Year:
1991
Ending Year:
1995
Engine Type:
V8
Engine Size:
7.4L/454
Engine Family:
Chevy big block Gen V
Application Notes:
This oil pan should fit almost all chassis and header combinations. It will clear a 4 1/2 in. stroke. You can use a stock OEM pickup designed to fit an 8 in. deep oil pan when used for street use.

I don’t care for kickout style oil pans because they can make oil filter removal difficult/messy when using headers and also make it difficult if not impossible to use larger diameter filters (System 1 for example) or longer filters. My $0.02…

Yes those are frequently all valid concerns but in this particular case ,this won't be an issue.
I just thought Id point out that larger capacity BBC oil pans are available that are not exorbitantly priced,
I've seen pans for those engines priced several hundred dollars higher.

example or example

now if you have fabrication/measuring /welding skills obviously you have the option of welding up a custom oil pan, and while going that route may or may not be cheaper I've found even skilled engine swappers, would prefer an off the shelf pan if ones available that meets the needs.

Your right, it's a good, reasonably priced oil pan with some nice features. Low profile too.

It just would not work in my application for what I needed from an oil pan. : /
