This has been a long term project that is almost finished.
This came in as a semi-rough 64 roadster and we used it to develop our C2/C3 LSX swap accesories.
The brakes use our billet drum-to-disc brake brackets allowing 84-87 C4 rotors and calipers so a 15" wheel will clear them. This system also uses a C5 master cyl.
The transmission crossmember is an alum channel adaptor for ease of trans removal.
Trans is a TKO-600
Motor is a LS2 with a mild cam
Headers are custom fabbed RevXtreme LSX/Sidepipe ceramic coated (we started with Hooker sidepipe headers for the year and then fabbed them to fit the LSX based motor & the Z-bar clutch linkage.
The induction system & radiator mounts are RevXtreme product
Suspension is Bilstien shocks, VBP monoleaf w/double offset trailing arms, RevXtreme billet mounting brackets & pulley system for air/alt/water pump all on one belt.
All guages are the factory originals converted to work with the new PCM/ECM but retain original face & needles.
We had an entire new custom wire harness fabbed to fit all sensors and accy's at the locations we chose. It made for a very clean & trouble free installation.
Rack & Pinion conversion
Aeromtoive fuel system
The body was lifted off the frame and new body mounts installed and the frame prepped & painted.
Rear quarters are flared to accept wider rear tires/wheels, but the original body lines were retained for as close to stock look as possible.
Some time in it's past a 65 & newer front end was put on this car so we put it back to 63-64 style.
Under the paint it came with, there were what looked like seven different paint jobs over the years with every color you could think of, so the body & paint took tons of hours.
We are installing HID projection headlights behind the grill for good illumination and a clean look.
And a ton of stuff I'll add when I remember.
Here are the pics that show the story:
This build here cost app $48k to complete with the options the customer chose. He opted to stay with the stock frame and upgrade all suspension. The A/C is Vintage air.
Options that would add to the cost are customers choice of either a box or tube chassis with all C4 suspension, and further to adapt C5 front susp.
This customer chose a N/A LS2 with mild cam but options range from mild to wild including single or twin turbo and supercharging.
Goal for this customer is to drive daily, car shows & meets on weekends, and the occasional track event.
This build is scheduled to be a feature car in both HotRod & Vette magazines.

What's the value of these finished? I have yet to see one go through Barret Jackson or any of the other big auctions for less than $100k, with several in the $125k range. The trend has been moving away from the factory correct restorations to these vette-rods that the owners can enjoy with all the comfort, ride, handling, fuel economy (up to 30mpg) & reliability of a newer car and not just a car parked in a climate controlled storage that comes out only a few times a year.
