massive internal fuel leak

, GRUMPY< IVE had a massive fuel leak out of throttle body, I parked my TPI corvette,
Pulled the car in the garage this morning.. Left in another car.. Came back tonight to a fuel puddle under my car.. Was dripping from the seam where the maf connects to air filter housing. So I squeezed the bellow in front of the throttle body and fuel was just pouring out.

I said wtf? So I pulled the vacuum line off the fuel regulator and it had fuel in it as well as the fuel regulator.. Pulled the vacuum line off the back of the plenum and there was fuel in there too.... . Did the diaphragm inside the fuel regulator finally give?"

yes theres an excellent chance the fuel pressure regulator diaphragm has ruptured (MOST LIKELY) a fuel pressure regulator diaphragm with a good size leak is not all that rare in older TPI corvettes, a slow leak tends to make the car run rich , and be hard to start, but a big rip can make the car become a huge fire hazard, and only a couple seconds of trying to start the car can pump several cups of fuel into the plenum, from there into the oil pan and vacuum lines and accessory's they connect too., plus the raw fuel in the exhaust system
buy a CHEVY SHOP MANUAL FOR YOUR YEAR CORVETTE!

set and verify your ignition timing, pull trouble codes, set your tps and iac,, then check for vacuum leaks on the lines and intake, then get out your multi meter and verify all the sensors, chances are good its a defective heat sensor or defective o2 sensor, a logical step by step approach will lead you to the problem, youll be amazed at what youll learn reading links. use of a shop manual and multi meter can be very helpful

learn to use the factory shop manual, and a multi meter and LISTEN to the engine closely

ALWAYS TEST ALL YOUR INJECTORS OHMS RESISTANCE, WITH A MULTI METER, IF YOUR ENGINE RUNS BADLY ,INDIVIDUALLY< THEY SHOULD ALL BE VERY CLOSE TO EQUAL, ANY THAT ARE NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED

or a injector has stuck in the wide open position, (LESS LIKELY) and thats the source of your internal fuel leak, fuels now damn near everywhere so take some precautions,
this is easy to fix if you think it thru but its also got the potential to cause huge problems if you get in a hurry, and fail to think, thru your actions.
don,t forget to temporarily remove the battery, to reduce the potential for fire, a single spark could result in a huge fire, move the car outside and let the engine compartment air out for awhile, and don,t forget to drain and replace the oil and oil filter, as the oils surely got fuel in it, and spin the engine with the spark plugs removed MANUALLY not with the starter after the oil change, obviously youll need to replace the defective fuel pressure regulator if the diaphragm is ruptured and leaking fuel into the plenum, but remember the brake booster, and exhaust system, may now be full of explosive gasses also. people fail to think thru the potential problems and the result is they hit the ignition and think they can use the starter or theres no fuel in the oil pan or vacuum lines and the result is a car on fire in the garage, don,t get in a hurry think it thru, murphys out there just waiting for you to give him a chance to burn your car or home down.
