Mechanical Fuel Pump

I've been having trouble with blown diaphrams in my fuel pump. 3 times in 5 years. Are they just not using good material on the rebuild, or is there an underlying problem here? Any help would be appreciated (except telling me to go to an electrical pump) ;) :D

without knowing the brand of fuel pump and the application, your using it in the answers just guessing at best, Id suggest changing fuel pumps to a decent aftermarket pump, of a different brand

holley and edelbrock both have some decent pumps once you get away from the bargain basement designs, keep in mind you need a return style fuel pressure regulator set at about 5 psi or the pumps going to be working against pressures its not really designed to work with, in most of the cases where I see fuel pump failures its usually because of a crappy fuel filter or a fuel system that's not set up correctly, with a return flow style fuel pressure regulator

read thru these threads carefully
