more busted push rods

I have a 454 BBC and had the following problem. Two exhaust push rods had the ball end chewed off after all the valves were adjusted, shortly after starting the engine. The engine is newly rebuilt using a Comp Cam with .555 lift and hydraulic lifters. The push rods were from the original engine. The engine has only about ten miles on it. I did use ZDDP in the oil.
Have any of you BBC guys had that problem?
Thanks,

long slot rockers are far less likely to bind on rocker studs

read thru the links it should help
In forced to agree with anyone who thinks this is rather obviously not a wear issue but points out that its bound to be an interference or geometry issue, it takes hundreds of pounds of force to bust push-rods
