my buddy reads and believes much of the crap posted and some guy suggested several years ago that he put his climbing deer stand up in the tree he wants to hunt from several days prior to the season opener, well it doesn,t take a great deal of thought to realize that the potential for the stand which cost him well over $120 would grow legs and walk off during that week if left UN-attended, so learning from the experience and out the stand, he bought he designed and welded up a new stand that takes a special made custom tool to remove from the tree, he designed it to use special wheel lock bolts inset recessed into welded tubing
so they can,t easily be removed with out a custom fabricated tool
yeah! you might guess some scum suckers could not remove the stand so they shot it to pieces.
the next year he designed and built a easily portable stand that easily back-packs into the area, he left it up for a lunch break, and it was long gone when he returned 3 hours later.
all I can say is theres a significant percentage of slimy thieves and vandals brainless morons in some areas.
this last year he built a tree stand from material like branches and camo rope and a small 2 ft square section of camo painted weather proof plywood,on the last day of last season, far back from any road access, since regulations forbid using nails in trees, this year he goes to his stand and its still there, he starts to climb up in it in the dark on opening day and within minutes finds theres a huge wasp nest under the stand, he gets stung several times
