New Guy from Jersey Question for Grumpy????????????????

 Hi Grumpy. I had posted this question about a week ago on the intro page
but never got an answer. I thought I'd try moving it over here.
When I bought my 81 Coupe the power door locks didn't work.
Upon taking the door panels off, I found all the wires pulled
out of the switches and hanging loose inside the doors and
causing the battery to go dead. After tracing and checking the
wiring I installed new pigtails and switches. This fixed the
problem . The lock switchces now each lock both doors and set
the factory alarm. The problem now is when I lock the doors
and set the alarm with the switches and exit the vehicle, when I
close the drivers door the alarm goes off. I then have to insert
the key in the lock and unlock the door manually to shut off the
alarm. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.

1.check the integrity of the insulation on the wires 2. then check switches with continuity tester to ground and to both terminals when u shut door to see if u have a weak switch (bad contacts)

first step is to ALWAYS get a shop manual for the car your working on if its available.
because its more likely to have schematics, and trouble flow charts to work from
