Grumpy I ran into something out of the ordinary today I was loading some 308 rounds for an AR 10 I charged the case with IMR 4064 min charge according to Speer New manual with a Win 150 g FMJBT the charge was44.0 IMR4064 and COAL 2.775 when I put the powder in the case it filled to the top of the shoulder if I shook the case it would settle lower but I guess I'm compacting the powder a little when seating the bullet do you think this is bad

44 grains of imr 4064 under a 150 grain bullet is a rather common load
you may want to carefully verify the powder charge weight and type to verify its 44 grains of imr 4064
but that's not uncommon, many loads require you tap the case a couple of times to settle and partly compact the powder,
different 308 brass cases have marginally different internal volume, most mill surplus cases are marginally thicker brass ,
than similar cartridges in commercial brass, and won,t hold as much propellant
and yes even after that the bullet seating compresses the powder charge.
swap to 46 grains of h335 powder youll get similar velocity and not need to compress the powder
some load manuals will use a capital (C) after the powder charge listed,
to designate COMPRESSED POWDER CHARGE LOADS<
THE SPEER :DMANUALS GENERALLY DO THAT!

Accurate powder manuals just have foot note with an ( * ) after the powder charge to designate COMPRESSED or it says COMPRESSED after the load listed
